The focus of our session is to share our experience with teaching a term-long unit where we used math to explore global water issues. Students engaged in real-world problem solving activities using authentic data. This is a hands-on workshop where you can try out some of our learning activities.

Darryl Lee currently teaches math and art classes to grades 6 & 7 students at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver. He is passionate about helping students use math as a tool for exploring & solving problems based in authentic real-world issues.

Alice is a grade six teacher at West Point Grey Academy. She holds a Masters in mathematics education and is passionate about designing engaging activities to help students view math as a tool that can be used to understand the world around them.
